Bedside tables guard all the many little things that are obvious to us. We present a sophisticated and functional model to build yourself.
Swing bedside table
For those who like it simple and unconventional: Here you can not only hang out in bed, but also next to it! Instead of a fixed bedside table or shelf, this self-made swing offers itself as a shelf. You can vary the size and width, only thick ropes and good suspension are important.

6 Show all Building instructions for swing bedside table

1st step: Cut the old board to a length of 60 cm and a width of 25 cm. Then saw the board.

Step 2: Mark the holes for the rope suspension on all four corners of the board. Keep a distance of 5 cm from the edge. With impact drill and
Drill the holes through the Forstner bit. Tip: Position the drill vertically.

Step 3: Sand the board smooth on all sides and edges (see Fig. 3). Depending on your wishes, leave the board natural, glaze or varnish. Let the board dry well.

Step 4: Attach the rope to the board. To do this, cut two pieces of about one meter long from the rope. Thread a piece of rope through a hole on one of the two short sides of the board and knot at the bottom. The
Thread the other end of the rope through the hole next to it and also tie a knot at the bottom. Repeat this process on the other short side with the second piece of rope.

Step 5: Now there are two handles of the same length, to which the suspension cables for the ceiling can be attached. Measure the ceiling height and then determine how high the bedside table swing should hang.
Cut the rope length accordingly. Then tie ropes to each handle. Drill holes for the hooks at the desired location in the ceiling and insert the dowels. Attach the hooks in the dowels and hang up the swing.
