Video: Head of lettuce becomes a flower pistil

A head of lettuce becomes a Rosenkavalier - it blossoms large and small in a flash. THE HOUSE creative expert Bine Brändle shows how this works.
You need:
- Head of lettuce (Chinese cabbage or chicory is best)
- Acrylic colors in different shades of pink
- Small painting role
- Possibly fixative or hairspray
- Crayons or felt-tip pens (to draw stems and leaves)
Cut off the stalk
First cut the stalk clean with a sharp knife. Salads that are a bit older are particularly suitable for the stamp: their softened leaves are at a greater distance from each other and result in particularly beautiful florets.

Step 1: Cut off the stalk.

Apply color
Use the small paint roller to spread the paint thinly and evenly over the salad stalk. Tip: Determine the size of the flower yourself by removing the outer leaves.

Step 2: Apply the color.

Stamp flowers
Now stamp the desired item. The color on the salad stalk is enough for two to three rose petals. Then apply new paint. Different flower shapes: turn the pistil or cut leaves from the pistil again.

Step 3: Stamp the flowers.

Draw a stem
If you like, complete your roses with a stem and leaves: Draw a line with a soft colored pencil or a felt-tip pen. Then draw the leaves. Then test whether the color can be blurred. If so, fix everything with spray.

Step 4: Draw the stem.

Turn ordinary bags into unique pieces. Use fabric paint and paint the stem with a brush. For the leaf shape, a potato slice is carved until it has the desired shape. Finally, use it to stamp the leaves along the stem.
Floral greeting
