Set up maritime in the colors of the sea
The “Maritime” furnishing style can include so much more than nautical decoration, classic stripe patterns and navy blue. With the multifaceted colors of the water, from dark azure to bright turquoise to jade green, the white foam crown of a wave to the beach, nature provides a fabulous variety for new furnishing ideas. Furniture and accessories in these colors bring the impression and lightness of water and air into the house. So why not reinterpret the coastal flair in the colors of the sea?
Tip: combine different natural tones with each other. Aqua, azure and turquoise look summery-fresh. Earthy colors and wooden elements serve as a harmonious balance. Together they create a maritime flair that revives the beauty of the sea.
Maritime wall murals
Some only dream of vacation, others already have their next vacation on the beach in mind - every day, in their own home! A non-woven maritime photo wallpaper is the coolest way to escape everyday life.
Tip: Photo wallpapers made of non-woven are glued in strips - each is numbered - butt after butt. You spread the paste directly on the wall: really easy!

Decorate small rooms in a maritime style
Keep your hands off blue wall paint in small rooms! Dark colors make rooms appear smaller - and you want to achieve the opposite. So earthy colors are better for the walls, combined with accents in blue and turquoise.
Those who want to furnish a small room often struggle with the limited space available. Many things should find their place and have to be accommodated. In addition, it should also be set up harmoniously - in our case maritime. Clever storage solutions are required.

Maritime decoration: skillfully put pictures in scene
Maritime, illuminated photo motifs are a great eye-catcher! For this purpose, boxes with a removable frame are made from plywood panels and illuminated with LED strips.

If you don't have a suitable picture frame at hand, you can also display photos with clips on wire brackets. Or you can cut them out of thin plywood with the cutter frame. Then simply stick the maritime motifs against it from behind. Photos can be transferred to fabric, wood, glass and even concrete.
Reading tip: More great maritime decorating ideas and step-by-step instructions can be found in the book "Favorite pictures" by DIY blogger Ina Mielkau.

You just can't get enough of the sea, the wide horizon and the beach. You don't even have to: simply print out the best snapshots of your last vacation, walks on the beach and other vacation memories in various sizes and arrange them using clips on the wood-paneled wall to create a mini gallery.

Photos look different depending on how you hang them up. Try out on the ground beforehand what order and orientation you like best.

Maritime decoration: setting accents with accessories
A little beach house atmosphere at home looks like a mini vacation! This feel-good flair is easy to stage: use maritime decorations such as vases or pillows to set individual accents in the colors of the sea. This stands out as a wonderfully fresh contract from the white of the furniture and walls.

Maritime decorating ideas for DIY
But you don't necessarily have to buy maritime decorations - you can also make them yourself.
1. Color the backpack
Take a cotton backpack, fold it in the Shibori way and then dip it in textile paint. The result is a great one-off! The Shibori style is an old Japanese folding and dyeing technique that blends indigo with silk, hemp or cotton. It is explained step by step, for example, in the Idea Book on the simplicol homepage.

2. Sew the cushion cover
Blue and white patterned bandanas are a trendy headdress, but can also become decorative pillow cases. Cut cotton for the back into the size of the cloth. Stitch the cloth and the back together on the right, grasp a zipper on one long side. Neat the seams, turn the cover, fill - and off to the chill sofa!

Bandanas are not only good as headdresses, they also make great pillowcases.

3. For the windowsill
- Stones in various forms - the smoother the surface, the better.
- Construction paper in different colors, for example green and blue.
- Gloss paint markers in red, white, metallic green or another color of your choice (for example edding 751).
- Template for the numbers and letters.
- Acrylic lacquer in pastel blue, petrol, gentian blue or another color of your choice (for example from edding 5200 Permanent Spray Premium).
- Clear coat

Finds from the beach are best complemented with folded paper boats.

Step 1: First spray the stones with the acrylic varnish, let them dry.
Step 2: When the paint is completely dry, the gloss lacquer markers are used: Use the template to draw letters or numbers on the surface.
Tip: To give the stones an even stronger shine effect, spray them with clear varnish spray.

Use a marker to label the stones.

Step 3: Fold the paper boats out of the construction paper. If you want, you can also spray and label them in the colors of your choice.

Step 4: Finally, decorate the paper boats with the edding gloss lacquer markers. The metallic colors in particular conjure up a covering and shimmering shine on the construction paper.
