Video: Color facade cladding: jewelry and protection for the home
A facade cladding in color makes owners proud and gives children orientation - nice when you can say: "I live in the blue house" instead of "mine is the seventh house on the left". The color expresses our attitude towards life and influences our mood: lively painted facade claddings make the house and residents appear likeable and enhance the building.
Emphasize the architecture with a facade cladding
The time of shrill tones in facade design is over, today facade cladding is harmonious and supports the architecture with color. Facade cladding mainly consists of three types of elements, and each type needs a uniform color scheme:
- Bases, columns, supports and lintels - all elements that absorb and distribute loads
- Wall surfaces including projections over the entire height of the building, oriels and extensions
- Ornaments like cornices and garlands
The best way to make the architecture of your house recognizable is to separate different components from one another, to combine similar components. If one takes the surface of the wall as a reference plane, components are “behind”, in or in front of the facade. Parts lying deeper in the wall should be optically restrained with paint, and protruding parts should also be drawn out for the eye. Dark colors push a component back, making it appear farther away. Bright colors bring out components optically and move them close to the viewer. Parts in or behind the facade should therefore be made darker than the parts in front of the facade. In this way, the thoughts of the architect can be supported meaningfully.
Choose the color for the facade cladding
Inquire at the building authorities about the obligation to obtain approval and the requirements for facade cladding - in some places there are statutes on the material used for weather protection and its coloring. If you have the free choice, check which direction the house gets the most light from.
If only the morning sun shines on the house for a short time, it is in cold, blue light for the rest of the day - shades of yellow, orange, red or brown give the facade cladding charm and radiate warmth. If the facade is illuminated until early afternoon, the house also has cooler colors such as blue or green. But be careful if the house gets a lot of afternoon and evening sun: then green often shifts to a grubby gray. If it is lush in your garden, you should refrain from green facade cladding. White, beige or gray tones would be better here so that the house comes into its own.
More wood and richer colors on the facade cladding
Facade profiles are available with a finished color surface - builders don't waste time looking for a painter and organizing on the construction site. A fine band saw cut increases the wood surface by 30 to 40 percent compared to planed profiles, the same percentage more paint can be applied - the paint is richer and withstands wind and weather more permanently. For common wood facade coatings, renovation intervals of three to five years are expected, manufacturers of factory-painted profiles guarantee up to 15 years of maintenance-free. Apart from effort and possible annoyance, home owners save two to five renovations.
UV radiation and humidity clog facade profiles.
Watch out for
- the backing material - choose wood that is as durable as possible
- eco-friendly acrylic water-based paints
- an application of paint at least twice

Production of good wooden profiles
If you buy colored profiles, you should look behind the facade - some manufacturers only apply paint to the front.
Gentle drying: The wood for so-called premium profiles is carefully selected, then chamber drying slowly and gently removes moisture - until the future building material reaches exactly twelve percent wood moisture, with which it is firm and dimensionally stable. The result is a facade cladding that does not warp or splinter.
Precise processing: Trained woodworkers cut every single board with the most modern precision machines that work according to the old handicraft tradition. The result is a high-quality surface with the special flair of manual work.
Perfect paint application: In a unique process, the paint is applied under vacuum and dried in a hot air stream - the seal protects the wood permanently against warping and splintering. The vacuum coating gives the surface a subtle shimmer similar to that after finishing with soft brushes.
Lacquered back: Premium facade profiles are finished in the factory with opaque wood paint. That is why they are particularly suitable for weathered outdoor areas. The finely sawn and multiple brushed surface absorbs significantly more varnish during the treatment. This increases the protection of the solid wood profiles against the weather. In addition, the UV radiation on the finely sawn surface is increasingly broken. Both lead to a longer durability of the facade. The factory paint application is applied using the environmentally friendly vacuum process. The planed goods receive an all-round blue stain treatment. On the visible side there is a special primer and a double application with wood paint. The back is primed with wood paint.

Install the facade cladding
Facade profiles can be installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally and put together in graphic patterns - always with sufficient ventilation on a substructure.
Profiles with a conical shape give the house a distinctive and distinctive character. The look, which was originally achieved with the traditional smooth edge profile, can be supplemented with tongue and groove and rounded edges in order to do justice to the constructive wood protection. Another advantage is the hidden fastening of the profiles. The nail joint should be arranged so that the fastener is covered by the next profile. This creates a beautiful, homogeneous image of the facade, and the attachment point is protected at the same time.
Profiles in a straightforward, cubic form ensure a modern, narrow and no-frills look - they come very close to the look of moldings. The basic principle of tongue and groove is easy to use and forms a closed surface. Due to the type of profiling, the profiles cannot be visibly fastened - laying takes less time.
Profiles in the form of traditional faceplate form look elegant and calm. The fastening is covered by the groove cheek of the next profile.
Painted facade cladding from the factory
The installation of tinted solid wood profiles saves builders the search for a house painter, coordination of appointments, waiting times and later maintenance work. A factory-painted solid wood facade brings builders and renovators a dozen advantages:
- The profiles are suitable for new buildings, extensions and renovations
- Assembly saves time
- Maintenance is minimal - once a year cleaning with clear water is sufficient
- The weather resistance has been tested
- The surface remains permanently free of algae and mold
- The facade elements do not let any resin escape
- The profiles are dimensionally stable
- The paint application also includes edges and back
- The range also includes all accessories
- The color selection is large
- The manufacturer grants a ten-year guarantee against tearing, flaking or peeling of the paint
- The logging is environmentally friendly
