The property is a big investment. But owners later live much cheaper than tenants.
For many tenants, buying their own four walls seems too expensive. New owners actually spend more money on housing costs than comparable tenant households. After a few years, however, the tide turns, according to an analysis carried out by the research institute Empirica on behalf of LBS Research: If the property is debt-free, owners only spend every sixth euro on living, tenants almost every third euro.

The curves clearly show: Initially, the housing costs of owners are significantly higher than those of tenants. The situation has changed in favor of the owners over the years.
