Do you want a walk-in closet or do you want to separate the dining area from the living room? That works with non-load-bearing drywall. They can be planked as required, for example with healthy clay building boards.

The building material clay is good for the indoor climate, stores heat, regulates the air humidity and improves the air quality. The building boards consist of clay, untreated wood fibers, vegetable starch and jute fabric on the back. The substructure is made from wooden or metal profiles. In timber frame construction, the panels can be mounted directly on the surface. Even lightweight walls made of plasterboard can be clad with clay building boards.

Prepare clay building boards

First cut the clay building boards to the desired length using a jigsaw, circular saw or cutting disc. This also works with a cutter: mark the length, scratch the surface along a long rail with the cutter and break the panels over a solid edge. Then also cut the tissue on the back with the cutter. Because cutting and processing is a dusty affair, you should wear a face mask.

Install clay building boards

The clay building boards are laid together, horizontal joints must not lie on top of each other. Brackets or countersunk screws with retaining plates are suitable for fastening - the screws can also be placed in the butt joint.

Fill walls

When all the panels are in place, they are filled. To do this, first wet the entire surface slightly and then apply a thin layer of adhesive and reinforcing mortar made of clay. It is applied over the entire surface and about two to three millimeters thin. Then work a reinforcing fabric into this fresh plaster layer - also over the entire surface. Then the fabric is completely covered with another layer of mortar. When the surface is finished, let the clay mortar dry well.

Refine the surface

Finally, apply a fine or fine plaster, it should be about two to three millimeters thick. If this is "leather hard" - that means it is not yet completely dry, but can no longer be deformed - the surface can be sponged, rubbed or smoothed.
