Video: Hide garbage cans: the perfect privacy screen

Hiding garbage cans behind a privacy screen is becoming increasingly popular - after all, the containers are not particularly nice to look at. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bought garbage box from the hardware store. Rather, there are very different ways to discreetly accommodate the unpopular tons on the property. Let yourself be inspired here.
A privacy screen for garbage cans is an optimal way to inconspicuously accommodate the colorful rubbish bins. Since waste separation has been compulsory in Germany since 2015, almost every household has several tons, which are often unsightly in a corner. Occasionally you can also find them behind little aesthetic concrete boxes. There are some nice alternatives that can even be a real eye-catcher. If you are skilled in the art, you can build the garbage can cladding yourself.
Shadow place
Always choose a place in the shade for the location of your garbage cans. Above all, the organic bin should not dwell on your nose and health for love in the blazing sun. Otherwise, a bad smell, harmful gases and annoying vermin are the result. Tip: Put some newspaper in the bin. You should also regularly clean the garbage cans.
If there are tons in the stairwell, next to doors or under windows, mold can enter the apartment with the draft. So look around for a better spot and also think about the distance between garbage and seats, as well as the main wind direction.
Decorative foils

An inexpensive alternative to hiding a garbage can is a decorative film. Simply choose a suitable motif that fits your background and the unsightly bin becomes an eye-catcher in the front yard.

Decorative films are an inexpensive alternative if you don't want to build or buy a new shelter for your tons. For example, a film with a natural motif such as wild wine can serve as a camouflage dress for the colored bin. The advantage: you have a huge selection of different motifs that can be changed if necessary, and the weatherproof PVC tarpaulins can be easily attached to the bin in just a few simple steps.
Garbage boxes from the hardware store
Garbage boxes from specialist retailers have been particularly popular for several years. Whether made of wood or high-quality metal - the range offers both inexpensive solutions and models with special extras such as green roofs. When buying, make sure that the respective garbage can cabinet can be individually expanded, because finished models are often only designed for two tons. Good to know: Some garbage boxes can also be used as normal storage space for garden tools.

Ready-made garbage boxes are available from specialist retailers. Whether models made of wood or constructions made of high-quality material: the range is large and offers something for everyone. The box shown was covered with durable high-pressure laminate panels and has a planting bowl made of stainless steel as a cover.

Screen made of wood or hedges
A screen made of hedge plants such as a thuja hedge or a privet hedge is particularly simple and beautiful. These blend in optimally with the surroundings and are a good solution if the ground beneath the barrel is not secured. It is best to place the hedges in a U-shape around the garbage bin, this creates a small niche that shields from prying eyes.
You can also build constructions from wood, willow, bamboo or reed. However, it is important to ensure good fastening. This is because these face shields usually offer a large area of attack for the wind. If you want to place your construction on an unpaved surface, you should concrete point or strip foundations and let in beam shoes. You can simply screw the screen onto concrete surfaces.Tip: For easy handling of the garbage can, the floor should be fixed with panels or wood.

individual solutions
Even self-made constructions mean a little more effort, but can be adapted exactly to your garden. Whether entirely natural made of wood or something more rustic with stone baskets or gabions - the selection is huge. Constructions that are planted with fast-growing plants such as ivy, wisteria or clematis look particularly beautiful. If the barrels are on closed paving surfaces, you can also place the climbing plants in large pots with water drainage.
If you have created your garden in a Japanese look, the privacy screen for the garbage cans should of course also go with it. To do this, simply set up thick bamboo tubes and knot them tightly. Wicker mats or reed grass are stretched in between - the Japanese-style cladding is ready.

Did you create your garden in the Japanese style? Then this dustbin hiding place fits perfectly.
