Video: Setting up a small bathroom: 15 ideas for little space

Small but powerful! That's how we want to see small bathrooms. From the sink to the shower or bathtub: Even a small bathroom should offer enough space and storage space for the most important utensils. In this article, we show you how you can set up a small bathroom to feel comfortable despite the lack of space.
There are various ways to make a small bathroom appear spacious.
First of all, you should look at what the starting situation is and what options you have. Because enlarging a bathroom by removing a wall, for example, is usually only possible as an owner. As a tenant, you have to use other aids. After consultation with the landlord, the tiles or walls can be painted in lighter colors if necessary. Otherwise there is the possibility to use the small space effectively with more practical pieces of furniture, which in the best case are modular. We show you some examples of the design options for small bathrooms.
Enlarge small bathroom with the mirror trick
With a large but flat mirror, you can visually enlarge the bathroom. The mirror creates a kind of space opening. If you want to mirror an entire wall, you should make sure that the door is not mirrored. That could do exactly the opposite and reduce the space again.
The light trick for the bathroom
Properly placed light can also make the room appear larger. Especially when the small bathroom has no windows. One or more wall lights for indirect light are best suited for this - they emit a bright but warm light upwards, which is reflected by the white ceiling and illuminates the room evenly, but not too brightly - optimally for a good spatial effect. In addition, you should install bright spots with direct light above or next to the bathroom mirror. Her face is optimally illuminated - for applying makeup, shaving or inserting contact lenses.
Narrow bathroom furniture
Some manufacturers now have a special sanitary program for small bathrooms on offer. Here, the wash basin, shower or bath tub and the like are made in such a way that they almost nestle against the wall. In this case, you should also choose the bathroom furniture so that it has less depth, but more width. This stretches the room even more. You shouldn't put furniture across - that would take up precious space and make the mini-bathroom seem even smaller.
The trick with the tiles
If you have the opportunity to determine the tiles in the bathroom, choose two colors. A checkerboard pattern, for example, skillfully distracts from the size of the room. Otherwise, it is important to bring in contrasts: If the bathroom is tiled dark, then the rest should be decorated with white and wood tones. If the bathroom is completely tiled in white, which makes the room look larger, you can also work with wood, but also with some small dark accessories, such as a black laundry basket made of bamboo or anthracite-colored towels.
