Window sills are not just for wiping. They are perfect for styling and decorating. Not infrequently, they even offer extra living space. See for yourself.
Windowsill as a mini garden
Even our grandma already knew that: indoor window sills are the perfect place for houseplants. In principle, you can take any houseplant. You should note whether the location is sunny or shady in order to select the plants accordingly. Cacti and succulents are currently the trend. Roots, branches, mosses and cones can complement each other. What grandma did not know: single cut flowers, meadow herbs or branches turn a window sill into a flower meadow. Whether you set up a single vase or a whole dozen vases - a matter of taste. Tip: Put empty favorite vases in between. Get inspired here:

Greenery in the facility is hard to imagine. There is enough space on window sills and the plants get enough light.

Windowsill as a stage for favorite pieces
The decorative fever has broken out in the living area. Knick-knacks are allowed again. But not only side tables and sideboards are suitable for a decorative still life, but also the window sill. Tip: adapt the decoration to the season, for example Christmas decoration, Easter or autumn. Idea: Extend your height and pull in additional boards on the upper window floors. Let yourself be inspired by the following ideas:

3 general style rules for the windowsill
- No matter whether lavish or reduced - do not randomly put away any decorative items that would otherwise find no place in the apartment. Decorate your windows lovingly, consciously arrange picture frames, candlesticks, vases, play figures, jars or small lamps.
- Think carefully about how often you open the window before arranging your little still life. Nobody wants to constantly clear everything away. Tip: Arrange many individual pieces on a tray, then you only have to carry that away.
- Make absolutely sure that you do not fill any ventilation slots in the radiator and ventilation system and that the systems can no longer work. This is especially true if you move a bench in front of the window: radiators must be able to work properly.

If you have to open your window regularly, you should refrain from decorating.

Windowsill as a bedside table
The window sill can be a space saver, especially in small apartments and rooms. If you place the bed by the window, you can convert the windowsill into a bedside table. Idea: Even in the bathroom, if there is a window, the ledge can be used as a storage space.

If you don't have a lot of space in the bedroom, you can quickly convert the windowsill into a bedside table.

Windowsill as a bookshelf
Novels, coffee table books and your favorite magazines can also find their place on the windowsill. Again, you should think about whether the window needs to be opened often and maybe you should find another ledge for your window library.

Books stacked in front of the window are an interesting change. In addition, storage space was immediately gained.

Windowsill as a cozy corner
It is the culmination of every room: a window seat where you can comfortably enjoy the view outside. If you are currently building (yourself), you should consider planning a wide return within the frame. Then pad with a felt mat, pillow or foam. If you don't have these structural requirements, you can arrange a bench or a comfortable seating area in front of the window for a view of the box. Often you can even create storage space underneath. Get inspired here:

In the children's room too, cozy corners are great retreats for the little ones to read and relax.

Extend the windowsill as a table
Do you have a wide window sill? In the kitchen, this can be converted into a small dining table or the existing dining table can be extended. In the bedroom or living room, you may set up your workspace for this, provided that you have space to sit comfortably on it. Variant: Install a new, wider window sill with integrated space. See how others solved this:

Space problems? Why not use the windowsill as a table. This works both in the children's room and in the kitchen.
