That's how it's done
Shape the small ruler into a pentagonal star. There are several possible variants for this - try it out! Then stick the open end on one side with craft glue and glue it to the opposite side of the other end. The best thing to fix the whole thing with a clothespin until it dries. Real DIY enthusiasts can also drill through both ends and connect them with a short screw.
If you want to make a particularly large star for your wall, you can also form two rulers into two triangles each and glue them together as described above. Then lay the triangles on top of each other opposite to a hexagonal star. Where the two triangles touch, apply glue and glue both triangles together.

If you want to decorate your folding rule stars a bit, you can also make tassels from pine branches. Simply bundle the pine branches in the desired thickness. Then add one end of the cord and wrap everything tightly with a piece of fabric tape. The cord is cut off at the end. Depending on your mood, you can also attach other decorative elements to your star - how about tree balls or other pendants?

You can attach the finished stars to the wall using a bracket and decorate as desired.
