1. The individualist "Collaro" from Villeroy & Boch impresses with slim shapes and clear lines. The one-sided wide edge or the offset edge is the trademark of the collection and functions as a shelf for care products, for example. The backrest runs at an angle of about 25 degrees and therefore convinces with a comfortable lying position.

Sink trends

Countertop basins that are reminiscent of water bowls, complete models with a matching base cabinet, small cantilever floats for the mini bathroom: what should it be?

1. With the "Ipalyss" series, the manufacturer Ideal Standard commemorates the ceramicist Bernhard Palissy from France who was active in the 16th century. The washbasins impress with their imperishable charm and, thanks to their rather practical shape, they can be used with almost any furnishing style. As of the third quarter, the new bowls will be available in many different colors.

2. The designer Terri Pecora is responsible for the new “Plural” series from Vitra. She plans to redefine the bathroom and bathroom furnishings. The washing area is to become a place where people can stay longer and communicate more. The washbasins, slightly offset, should contribute to this. In addition, clever installation solutions hide the pipes and thus allow the sink to be placed anywhere.

3. “BetteCraft” by Bette looks elegant like a sculpture. Each bowl is individually molded from titanium steel in a complex process and then glazed inside and out. Due to the thin, tapered side walls, the generous shape appears organic and delicate. The wash basin is available in two different formats and a variety of colors.

4. If the mini washing area in the guest bathroom looks too small, then mirrors and playing with light help to visually enlarge the room. The series "Leelo" from Laufen combines both. The mirrors are available in many different sizes (from 450 to 1, 800 millimeters) and in three versions. In variant number one, the light can be switched on and off in the classic way using a switch. In variant number two, the light is controlled by a sensor and can also be dimmed. The third variant is the one with the most technical tricks: just like variant two, the light can be dimmed, but in addition the light color and intensity can be adjusted. Variant number three also has an ambient light, which bathes the bathroom in pleasant light at all times of the day.

5. With its “3way” series, Sanipa has put the number three at the center of its washbasin bases. 6. Anyone who loves clear lines and elegant design in bathroom furnishings is usually annoyed by the siphon under the washbasin. You can lock him in a base cabinet. Or let it disappear completely in the pretext installation. That's fine! A panel, equipped with a hair sieve, covers the wall drain from the new “One” series from Geberit.

Innovations in toilets

Even if it is still a taboo topic for many bathroom furnishings: shower toilets clean thoroughly, improve daily hygiene - and save paper!

1. The “Washlet” by TOTO has shaped the bathroom in Japan since 1980. Even then, it impressed with a hot water cleaning system. Developed further, the “Washlet” now captivates with a fine water mist that wets the toilet bowl before each use and thus prevents dirt from getting stuck.

Burgbad Lab „Saguaro”
Burgbad Lab „Saguaro”

The creation "Saguaro" comes from Vitalij Krist and Florian Wagner, inspired by the eponymous Saguaro cactus plant.

Photo: Burgbad Lab

Vitalij Krist and Florian Wagner have created an exciting design for the Burgbad Lab "Saguaro": the toilet, shower and sink have been arranged around a central column (see photo on the left).

This design frees itself from the typical "always on the wall" and gives freedom of design. Let's see if the idea remains a dream of the future. We are definitely very excited.
