The urban jungle trend is particularly popular in the city. No wonder, especially when you long for nature and lively green in an urban environment. Urban Jungle can do even more: The trend creates a holiday mood when it is set up and conjures up tropical flair in your own four walls.
What is Urban Jungle?
Urban Jungle means nothing else than urban or urban jungle, in other words: urban jungle. And that is exactly what the trend is aiming for. Few city dwellers have a garden or even a balcony that they can plant and plant. As time in nature is known to be good for body, mind and soul, many people bring green to their homes with the help of Urban Jungle. There are hardly any limits to your imagination. When setting up: the wilder, the better! Like in the jungle.
Urban Jungle: living trend and lifestyle
The urban jungle owes its success to its beneficial effects on body and soul. The many plants naturally improve the indoor climate and improve the air quality. For example, ferns filter many irritants and, moreover, toxins from rooms. Kentia palm, bow hemp and one-leaf are also proven air-purifying plants - and real green highlights in the pot. They produce an above average amount of oxygen compared to other plants.
But modern plant pictures and decorative objects borrowed from nature also increase well-being. The jungle style transforms the apartment into a relaxation room, so that your own home suddenly becomes a haven of peace where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Studies have long shown that green has a positive effect on our minds. That means we relax more easily and more deeply. A stressful day can be forgotten much faster.
How do you implement the living trend?
When decorating in the urban jungle style, real plants as well as plant prints or products such as textiles, wallpaper or decorative elements with green designs are used. One thing is particularly important for implementation: creativity. Because the living space in the city is usually limited. If you still want to accommodate many plants in the smallest space, you can use plants that can either be placed in flower pots, in hanging containers or in vertical planting systems. The latter are now available for the balcony and terrace as well as for interiors. So there is nothing standing in the way of your own herb garden in the kitchen.
Tip for plant selection: Depending on the plant, the urban jungle sometimes does more, sometimes less work. Easy-care houseplants make sense for people who travel a lot and have little time to take care of their plants. Of course, these too need to be taken into account and taken care of, but can handle minor neglect and absences.
In the interior, you can either rely on a holistic concept or implement the urban jungle with the help of smaller or larger accessories. Set beautiful accents with cushions for the couch, wallpaper or tablecloths with a wide variety of leaf and flower patterns. Furniture, pictures or decorative objects are also popular details that skillfully convey the jungle style.
Self-catering à la Urban Jungle
For many, urban jungle is not just a living trend, but also a lifestyle that includes self-sufficiency. At least when it comes to the developers of the "growroom". They tinkered with an innovative idea for a vertical garden to build up and grow themselves. The concept: the walk-in pavilion can be planted with vegetables and herbs as desired. This turns the kitchen garden into a green, breathing retreat in the fast-paced city life. The project originated in Space10, Ikea's external design laboratory. More information and building instructions can be found on the Space10 homepage.

Urban Jungle unique pieces
You can conjure up exclusive tropical flair in your living room with a mural made of real plants. Stylegreen, for example, offers models made from moss and ferns. How it works? In order to enjoy the “living mural” for years, grasses, ferns and the like must be preserved. This happens naturally in a natural process, so that the plants do not need any care and only need to be dusted every now and then. Practical, modern and above all wonderfully unconventional. The Urban Jungle murals are available in a wide variety of sizes and formats. The smallest picture measures 22 centimeters x 22 centimeters and is available for 69 euros on the Internet.
