An application for a housing premium can be made quickly and easily. And it's worth it: Anyone applying for state support can look forward to a subsidy from the state every year.
How to apply for the housing premium?
Home savings can be easily obtained by home savers: building societies usually send account statements to their customers at the beginning of each year. This letter is usually accompanied by an application for a housing premium. Applicants must fill out this form and submit it to the building society, which will then take care of everything else.
Where are the applications for the housing bonus?
As a rule, the application for a housing construction premium is automatically received with the annual settlement of the building society. If this is not the case, home savers interested in the bonus must contact their building society and request the form there. Some building societies refrain from sending the application form if they know that the taxable income of the respective building society is above the funding limit.
When do you have to apply for a housing premium at the latest?
Building society customers can apply for the building construction premium retrospectively up to a maximum of two years. This means that, for example, interested parties can fill out a form for the premium for 2018 until December 31, 2020 and submit it to the building society.
Important to know: The application for a housing premium must be submitted again each year. It is not enough to fill out an application only after the first year of home savings. If you want to receive the annual funding, you have to request it again every year.
When is the housing premium paid?
A prerequisite for receiving the housing construction premium is that the money accumulated through the building society savings contract, including the funding, is used for residential purposes. So it has to be used, for example, for the construction or purchase of a property or for its renovation. This condition must be fulfilled so that the housing premium can be paid out.
In addition, it is only paid if the funding requirements are met - because only those who do not exceed certain income limits for the housing premium are entitled to the funding.
And there are other requirements that must be met so that the home construction bonus actually reaches the home savers in full. For the funding, these points must be fulfilled:
- Proof of residential use (see above).
- The building society contract ran for at least seven years.
- Funding was applied for annually.
- The claims from the building society contract must not have been assigned to third parties (e.g. creditors).
How is the housing premium paid?
The housing premium is not paid directly to the home savings provider, so it is not transferred to their account or even paid in cash. This is important to know because this is the only way to ensure that the money is used for housing purposes. Rather, the premium is credited to the building society contract annually by the state through the building society. The amount of the funding already received is always understandable: The credit for the housing construction credit is shown on the annual account statement sent under a separate item.
