Every year the Pantone Color Institute appoints a trend color of the year. It should reflect the spirit of the times and then set the tone in numerous industries such as fashion, beauty and interior design. While “Living Coral” was chosen a strong, invigorating color the previous year, in 2020 “Classic Blue” looks calmer and more simple.

The classic blue shade "Classic Blue" seems almost unspectacular in contrast to its predecessors "Living Coral" and "Ultra Violet". It should remind us of the “endless vastness of the evening sky and make us think”, as Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone Institute describes.
Blue has always stood for calm, harmony and security. No wonder that it is one of the absolute favorite colors of the Germans. "Classic Blue" should also have a relaxing effect on us, so that we can "better organize and structure our thoughts". At the same time, the color should encourage us to "take on new perspectives and communicate impartially". So no color could be more suitable for the start of a new decade.

In the face of technological advances and an increasingly hectic world, according to Pantone, it is obvious that we are increasingly longing for solid and calm colors. "Classic Blue" should remind you that "after every night there will be a morning".

In contrast to "Living Coral", "Classic Blue" can be optimally integrated into the interior. In the bedroom, the color is refreshing and soothing at the same time. However, avoid painting a room completely in color, otherwise it will quickly look cool. In combination with other colors, however, there are great design options. The best color combinations are shown below.

As the name suggests, this color palette with its purple tones in combination with the "Classic Blue" is reminiscent of an endless evening sky in the desert. The glittering gold tones radiate that certain something and should remind of the stars.

If you keep an entire room in blue, you have to make sure that the room doesn't look too cool. Floral patterns loosen up the whole thing optically and make the furnishings appear more playful.
