Spotify is a great service, which gives us access to a vast free music catalogue. Although there are rumors that restrictions will be applied to non-paying users, for now they should only listen to ads and use the random mode on mobile. So we are going to introduce you to 9 tips for Spotify that you should know to get the most out of it.
The truth is that Spotify seems simple: we search for a song and listen to it, or we choose the theme from our playlists. But in reality it keeps quite a few secrets, which will allow us to make much better use of the music platform.
If you are intensive user of the program, you have to discover these tricks for Spotify. Here we leave a list with 9 of them, really useful and comfortable:
Organize lists
As we create lists with our favorite songs (by genres, themes or artists) we begin to fall into chaos. But it is possible to organize Spotify playlists in a very complete way.
The idea is to create folders to organize lists with common characteristics. We must use the Spotify desktop program, go to "File" in the top menu and there choose "New playlists folder".

It is a good option, for example, to add all the offline lists that we have, and that are easy to find. But, really, we can organize the playlists however we want.
Advanced search
The normal Spotify search may not be enough for those who want to find very specific works. That's why we can use modifiers, a cool Spotify trick. Let's see some, with practical examples:
- Search artist:michael jackson returns results whose author has one of those words in their name. If we type artist:"michael jackson", the results include both words.
- Search title:"Billy Jean" displays songs with those words in the title.
- Search year:1980 gives results for that year, or we can indicate a range with year: 1980-1990.
- Search for artist:"michael jackson" year:1980 is the same as typing artist:" michael jackson" AND year:1980, both conditions must be met. If it arrives with only one being fulfilled, we must use an OR, and if we want one not to be fulfilled, add a NOT before it.

Share Music
If we want to share our music we can add friends and do it through the app, but it is not the only alternative. It is also possible to use the links, a very convenient system.
We must right-click on the desktop application, on a song, an album or an artist. We can get an HTTP link, which is used for the user who receives it to enter the web version of Spotify with their account.
If we prefer, we can pass a URI, which directly opens the program on the user's computer, as long as it is installed. We can also copy a code to embed that selection in any web page.

Weekly Discovery
If you don't use this feature, you're missing out on great songs. Every Monday a custom playlist is generated, which disappears at the end of the week, so a good idea is to take a look to see if it suggests any interesting topics. Best Spotify Trick!
The weekly Discovery playlist sits alongside your other playlists, and builds it based on your preferences Takes into account everything you've heard, but especially the most recent. By comparing other users' playlists, look for things you might like that you haven't heard, or haven't heard much of.

Find a previous song
Many times we hear a song, we like it, but we can't see its title before it ends. You don't have to miss it, because Spotify keeps a list of everything that's played, even from mobile devices.
In the lower right area, between the song duration bar and the volume, there is an icon with three horizontal lines. Clicking it brings up our play history and the next songs to start.

Add songs from Shazam
Shazam is a popular application to identify music. We only have to open it when a song is playing, and it will indicate the title. The system works well, it's free and really useful, so there's no excuse not to use it.
Well, there is an option for each song that we identify with Shazam to be added to a special list of Spotify. If you're interested, just take a look at our tutorial to sync Shazam and Spotify.

Access song lyrics
If we listen to a lot of music in English, it would be nice to have the lyrics available. Searching for them on Google is uncomfortable, but with this Spotify trick you can find them in the app itself, without the need for third-party plug-ins.
In the desktop version there are some icons between the playback bar and the sound bar. There you only have to press the button "Letters" to access an extremely wide catalogue. Of course, a great way to set up an impromptu karaoke.

Keyboard shortcuts
The most productive way to work with a computer is by using keyboard shortcuts, key combinations that when pressed cause actions. This is faster than navigating between menus with the mouse.
Well, Spotify has a list of keyboard shortcuts, these are the ones available:

Retrieve playlists
If you have deleted a playlist by mistake, it is very likely that it can still be recovered You must enter your Spotify web account and search the "Retrieve playlists" option on the left side. There you can see the ones you have deleted but are still stored.
You only have to choose the one that interests you, press the "Recover" button and check that it is available again.

So now you know these 9 really useful Spotify tricks. Of course, they increase the versatility of the program, although they are limited to the desktop version. In any case, these secrets are worth learning for music enthusiasts.
It's true that Apple Music and Google Play Music are also very interesting, but they don't reach this level of features. Also, they don't have a worthwhile free plan either, so Spotify is the current market leader.
What do you think of these tricks for Spotify? Do you find them useful, or are there any other must-haves you want to add?
