If you have a laptop probably more than once you have closed the lid and it has turned off automatically or entered into suspension. On the contrary, if you have a desktop computer, you can choose different power plans than you can on a laptop.
To change the different power plans of your equipment you can do it in a very simple way, you only have to access the control panel control and then click “Power Options”.
When we are in this window we will be able to see several predefined options in which we can choose between several plans which are adapted to different situations.
High Performance Plan
This plan behaves as if it were a desktop computer in which energy consumption will be the maximum, and in it we can see how the brightness of our screen decreases will go up to max, the screen will turn off after 15 minutes and the computer will never go to sleep.
Economizer
This plan is best suited for a laptop or if you anticipate not being able to charge your device when the battery runs out. With this plan, the screen will turn off after 5 minutes and the device will go into sleep after 15 minutes.
Recommended
In this plan, the device will go into sleep after 30 minutes and the screen will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. Brightness levels will be medium.
Custom plan
In this mode you can create your own plan without having to modify the ones that come pre-established, in this way you can choose the behavior of the lid, when to suspend the equipment or when the screen will turn off.
Behavior of the unit when closing the lid
When we have a portable computer we can choose the actions that we want our computer to do when we close the lid of the computer. To do this we will go to the Control Panel and in the power options we can see the menu on the left and we can choose whether to turn off the equipment, suspend it or do nothing.
You must bear in mind that this last option must be configured correctly since if we are performing some tasks and we close the lid, the equipment may not turn off properly or you may have problems.
