How to play with your Xbox One from mobile with Console Streaming

Owners of a Xbox One can now play the console from mobileThrough the home WiFi connection it is possible to enjoy the games on any Android device, instead of using the TV, and we are going to teach you how to use this function of Xbox Console Streaming

Until now it was possible to stream games from an Xbox One to Windows 10 computers, but compatibility has been extended to Android phones and tablets, without ruling out that at some point Console Streaming will reach iPhone and iPad.

And it is that this function is still in tests (beta), and it is not finalized. However, any user can join, without geographical limitation, so we already have it available in Spain and Latin America.

Looking to the future, streaming can be done from the cloud, using Microsoft servers instead of our own console, and it is to be imagined that Xbox Series X will also support mobile gaming.

But you don't have to look to the future to take advantage of this function, because enjoy Xbox One titles comfortably from bed or sofa, even if the console is in another room, it is an attractive idea for many.

Xbox Console Streaming Requirements

Most Xbox One owners will initially assemble the necessary items for Console Streaming, but let's go through them one by one:

1. Mobile or tablet with Android 6.0 or higher and Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.
2. An Xbox One controller with Bluetooth.
3. Xbox One set to immediate start.
4. Local network with speed of 4.75 Mbps and latency 125 ms (minimum).
5. Local network with 9 Mbps speed and 60 ms latency (recommended).
6. Own games, whether on disc, digital or from Xbox Game Pass.

The requirements are not too complex, the vast majority of console controls support Bluetooth, except the first ones sold in 2013 (the first Elite controller doesn't have Bluetooth either).

If we only have an Xbox One controller, we will have to synchronize it with the console or mobile depending on the moment of configuration, something quite uncomfortable, but that does not prevent us from finishing the process.

The speed of the local network is also not demanding. The connection from the console to the router can be by cable, but the mobile will use WiFi, so it's better to have a quality router, with dual band support and WiFi ac (also called Wi-Fi 5).

Become an Xbox Insider

For now, only Insider users can stream from console to mobile. It is a program similar to Windows Insider, which gives us access to previous versions of the operating system, but in this case from Xbox.

Supposes the risk that they include bugs, but in exchange we receive the news before, as in this case. Let's see how to become an Xbox Insider:

1. We will choose the preview that we prefer, the only requirement for Console Streaming to play on mobile is that it be a Preview:

1. We will have to wait a few minutes until the registration is ready and the update appears. It will take a long time to install, once it is finished, the Xbox will be ready to connect with our Android mobile or tablet.
2. We will check that the Xbox is set to immediate start from the following path:

Settings -> General -> Startup Mode and Power -> Immediate Startup

Set up the mobile and remote control

To play we will need the Xbox Game Streaming Android application, to which we will associate the console's Microsoft account and link the controller by Bluetooth. You can get it from this link:

1. When opening the application we will identify ourselves with the email and password of the Microsoft account (or Xbox account, they are equivalent), which must be be the same as the one used in the console.
2. Now it will ask us to pair the remote via Bluetooth, although it gives us the option of using a third-party one, it is optimal to choose the official:

1. We will turn on the controller by pressing the central button (silver, with a drawing of a stylized X) until it lights up, and then press the synchronization button (at the top) until the light flashes fast.
2. The app will have taken us to the Android Bluetooth configuration, we will choose the remote to establish the connection:

1. Now it will allow us to pair the Xbox with Game Streaming, so we will have to turn on the console for the mobile to detect it:

1. We must confirm the connection on the television, this means that if we have only one remote control, we must re-synchronize it with the console to click on "Enable":

1. A series of technical tests will begin, some may not give the optimal result, but we recommend choosing "Enable console streaming"if the option appears, and try to play for a while, because the diagnosis becomes too demanding.
2. When opening the application to play, we will see a box that indicates "Connect", when pressed the Xbox will turn on if we are in the same local network:

1. On mobile we will see the original Xbox interface, and to play we must use the controller, the only tactile elements are a menu on the left corner and the WiFi signal indicator on the right:

In general, the system works well, although depends on the quality of the local WiFi. Of course, perhaps a tablet is better than a mobile for certain games due to its larger screen size.

Although it is not essential, it is recommended to use a support that connects the mobile to the controller, otherwise it must be placed in a stable place to enjoy the games.

On the other hand, let's remember that PlayStation 4 also allows you to play on any mobile, so the arrival of Xbox Console Streaming was necessary to stay competitive, as current users expect to play their favorite titles on any device.
