This week a new email scam is circulating about Lidl. It is an email in which by participating in a survey we would easily obtain 500 euros discountin a supermarket purchase.

The purpose of the email is simply to obtain our personal data to later send us advertising or even malware. Claiming a discount voucher of 500 euros after completing a survey is a way of engaging the user.

If we receive the link for the survey or the email, we must avoid it and, of course, neither fill out the survey or provide our data. We could receive the Lidl survey not only by mail but through social networks or instant messaging apps that are so fashionable today.

In this scam they ask us for our email address in addition to the name and surname, date of birth and zip code to later be able to address the user with other emails. In other words, we are registered in a database without our permission or in a camouflaged way, since the survey is not even from Lidl.

As the OSI points out, Lidl is not responsible for these emails nor will it contact us to offer us such a discount of 500 euros on a buy just by filling out the survey. It is a mass email and it is not addressed to us specifically, since it is a scam.

If we have fallen for the alleged Lidl scam, we should see when we receive another email if we can unsubscribe and even block the sender in any case so as not to receive more emails of this type that only take advantage of us on behalf of companies that have not even sent the mail, in this case, on behalf of Lidl.
