Google keeps trying with instant messaging apps. This time with Allo and Duo, two apps that intend to compete withWhatsApp, Telegram or Facebook Messenger.
The new Allo app integrates bots and works with the new Google Assistant. In addition, Google wants us to express ourselves better, and for this, it has included emojis and stickers as a differential point. We can even e edit photos, change the font size or emojis, in true Snapchat style.
In the part intelligent we have the possibility that, if someone invites us to dinner, the app itself is capable of reserving a table by us without leaving it. All this thanks to bots. We even have games so we can compete against the bots themselves.
Google hasn't wanted to forget the encryption in Allo and the integration with other services like Search, Maps, YouTube and Translate.
And again with a nod to Snapchat, we have an incognito mode and messages that self-destruct on Allo.

Duo, the app for video calls
Of course, Allo does not allow us to make video calls. For this we need to install Duo. With this app we can make video calls in HD quality even under limited conditions. It also works with end-to-end encryption.

On the other hand, Duo has an interesting functionality called KnockKnock with which we have a view from the other party before accepting the call.
Google Allo and Duo are not available yet, we'll have to wait until summer. Both apps will arrive for iOS and Android, and we will be able to talk to our contacts through our phone number as in WhatsApp.
