Instagram is the fashion app that everyone should be on if they want to look modern and sophisticated. Meanwhile, Twitter is losing relevance, with more and more political content and an unhe althy community. No wonder Instagram has become the second social network in Spain by popularity, since its growth is being very fast.
If Instagram is the second social network by number of users in Spain, it is not difficult to imagine that Facebook tops the list. We must bear in mind that the company bought Instagram in 2012, although they have kept the two networks quite separate for users. So it seems that the company has discovered the formula for success when it comes to the social part of the Internet.
These data are not official, since the companies involved rarely offer specific statistics for Spain. They come from the VIII Wave of the Observatory of Social Networks, a survey to find out the habits of Spaniards on the Internet. These are the most interesting results of this study:
- 88% of Spanish Internet users use Facebook.
- 41% of Spanish Internet users use Instagram.
- 39% of Spanish Internet users use Twitter.
- 26% of Spanish Internet users use LinkedIn.
- 15% of Spanish Internet users use Pinterest.
- 9% of Spanish Internet users use Snapchat.

The last time Instagram detailed its number of global users was in late 2016, and the growth is fast. It is not surprising that it has established itself as the second social network in Spain, surpassing Twitter, since the latter suffers from problems attracting new members, and is also in a bad economic situation. Although he tried to get Disney to buy it, right now his future doesn't seem too clear.
The growth of Instagram has not stopped, but it is clear that it will not be able to go beyond being the second social network in Spain to occupy first place, because Facebook is a very tough rival. In April 2016, Instagram had about 8 million Spanish users, but it is more than probable that the number has increased throughout these months.
What do you think about the topic? Does it seem logical to you that Instagran has become the second social network by number of users in Spain?
