In recent years we have seen how applications appeared for citizens to share a private vehicle, or other more controversial ones in which any driver can act as if he were a chauffeur that we hired from home. One of the applications whose objective is to share a vehicle when we go on a trip, BlaBlaCar, is now integrated into Google Maps and its results will appear when searching for information about trips.
This was recently announced by BlaBlaCar, publicizing the collaboration with Google worldwide, which will allow users of this social network to search for or share a car to see the routes available on Google Maps. At the moment this feature is available in Ukraine, Belgium, Poland and Spain, but it will reach the 22 countries in which the company is present.
If we access the Google Maps application from our mobile phone, we will see BlaBlaCar suggestions when we look for a route, for example to travel from Valencia to Madrid. As we can see in the screenshots, in the public transport section we will see an BlaBlaCar estimate in relation to the price and the time it will take us to arrive, in instead of being located in the part of routes by car.
Actually, as the user is warned, BlaBlaCar has not been fully integrated into Google Maps since it is an advertisement, but it does do so by analyzing the route we have selected. When we click on this option, if we have the application installed we will jump to it directly, but if not, Google Maps will take us to the BlaBlaCar app tab so that let's download it
As you can see, BlaBlaCar has been integrated into Google Maps taking the use of car sharing to another level offering it as another travel alternative. The service, although it does not work in the same way as Uber, which has full-time drivers, has not been without controversy, although perhaps these measures will help it become a more popular and widespread alternative.
