Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are official: know all the details

The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are finally official and we can tell you all the details we know so far about these two new Xiaomi smartphones. Possibly they will arrive in Spain and their price will be much lower than expected.

After months of leaks, the new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus reach the market, Xiaomi's new bet. Although we already knew key aspects of their designs, this official presentation has allowed us to see beyond a few simple devices.

Xiaomi Redmi 5, specifications

It is the smallest of the two models presented. The Redmi 5 features a metal body with hardly any borders on the screen, this is what that accompanies the rest of the technical specifications that have little to envy to the rest of the mobile phones of the competition:

1. Screen: 5.7 inches with HD+ resolution.
2. Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 450.
3. RAM memory: 2 or 3 GB of RAM memory.
4. Internal Storage: 16 or 32 GB internal storage.
5. Rear camera: 12 megapixels.
6. Ports and sensors: Fingerprint sensor and microUSB.
7. Battery: 3,300 mAh.
8. Operating system: Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is the older brother and it shows, because in terms of technical specifications things change for the better:

1. Screen: 5.99 inches with Full HD+ resolution.
2. Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 625.
3. RAM memory: 3 and 4GB of RAM memory.
4. Internal storage: 32 and 64GB of internal storage.
5. Rear camera: 12 megapixels.
6. Ports and sensors: fingerprint reader and microUSB.
7. Battery: 4,000 mAh.
8. Operating system: Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9 overlay.

Both devices feature 18:9 panels, it's what gives them the elongated look and is so comfortable when holding the phone with one hand. The downside is that neither device has NFC.

Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, availability and prices

At the moment they are scheduled to go on sale on December 12 in China, but they can be expected to hit stores Spanish physical Xiaomi in the coming weeks. These are the prices and models available, taking into account that, if they are finally launched in Spain, the price should rise due to taxes and other costs:

1. Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 2GB of RAM: 103 euros
2. Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 3 GB of RAM: 115 euros
3. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus with 3GB of RAM: 129 euros
4. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus with 4GB of RAM: 168 euros
