Who was Mario Moreno?
Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes was born in Mexico City in 1911, and before giving life to Cantinflas he practiced numerous professions, from shoe shine to taxi driver, going through the army when he was only 16 years old.
he also went through the circus, which led him to the theater and finally to the cinema. His greatest successes were in the 40's and 50's, jumping from Mexican cinema to some Hollywood productions.
Mario Moreno became popular for the comic character of Cantinflas, which he used in most of his films through variations. He called attention to the way he spoke, in which he complicated the conversations in an exaggerated way to get out of the various problems that were raised in the plots.
Mario Moreno passed away in 1993, but his Cantinflas lives on being relevant enough for Google to dedicate its Doodle today. For many he was the Mexican Charles Chaplin, and he deserves the Doodle just like other great names in Latin American culture had.
What do you think of the Doodle that the Google search engine shows today? Do you think it was a success to dedicate the Doodle to the anniversary of the birth of Cantinflas?
