The entire Samsung Galaxy S20 family comes to become the reference in the smartphone world, as it happens every year. This time we have three variants, Samsung Galaxy S20, Samsung Galaxy S20+ and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, of which we are going to tell you ourfirst impressions after having them in our hands.

As was the case in the previous generation, the new S20 lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack, something that has become fashionable in the highest range since Apple decided to remove it from its iPhones.

All the new S20 come with 5G technology built-in, to take advantage of this new connection system, which will be the future when you start your expansion.

Design similar but not the same

Obviously the three models presented are similar and incorporate IP68 protection against water and dust, but each one has some other difference in this design.

All models have an exactly the same front, only the size of the screen differs. On the back, the great protagonist is the camera module, especially in those lighter colours.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the smallest of all with dimensions of 151.7 x 89.1 x 7.9 mm, weighing 163 grams and a 6.2-inch screen Obviously we found it to be the most manageable of all and the one that will best adapt to any type of hand.

With the Galaxy S20+ we have not had the feeling that it was an excessively large terminal despite the fact that its screen grows up to6.7 inches , but it is true that we do not have the same feeling of manageability as in the S20.

Something that we liked is the variety of colors of these two models, since we can choose the S20 in black, grey, blue and pink, while the Galaxy S20+ can be obtained in black, Gray and blue.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is another story, since we are dealing with a fairly large terminal (6.9-inch screen), a bit heavy (220 grams) and, above all, thicker than what Samsung has accustomed us to in its high-end range (8.8 mm).

In addition, the colors chosen by Samsung do not seem the most appropriate since, by only being able to choose black and grey, the rear module where the camera is located goes completely unnoticed and gives the sensation of have a somewhat bland back.

All versions mount the excellent Dynamic AMOLED screen with Quad HD+ resolution which provides, in the case of the Galaxy S20, 563 pixels per inch, in the Galaxy S20+ it is 525 ppi, while in the case of the Galaxy S20 Ultra we will have 511 pixels per inch.

We liked this screen a lot and even more with the addition of 120 Hz refresh rate, which we can assure you is noticeable, even some of us coming from terminals that have 90 Hz.

Power in abundance

If we tell you that all the S20 models are extremely powerful, you won't be surprised, but if we tell you that some of them aim to have enormous power, then we'll get you a little more intriguing.

The three models mount the 7-nanometer Exynos 990,processor manufactured by Samsung itself, as well as 5G technology.

In the different memories they differ from each other with:

  1. Samsung Galaxy S20: 8/12 GB of RAM memory (LPDDR5) and 128 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card up to 1 TB.
  2. Samsung Galaxy S20+: 8/12 GB of RAM memory (LPDDR5) and 128/512 GB of internal storage via microSD card up to 1TB.
  3. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: 12/16 GB of RAM memory (LPDDR5) and 128/512 GB of internal storage expandable up to 1 TB by microSD.

With this hardware, the only thing that can be expected is top-level performance, with special attention to the 16 GB of RAM of the most advanced version of the S20 Ultra, since we can consider it as a terminal that It should be hard to beat, but we'll have to wait and see for a closer test.

Everyone comes with Android 10 as OS version, masked with Samsung's customization layer calledOne UI in its version 2.0.

The software has at least one curious addition, since in the call area, in addition to what is typical such as dialing a number, contacts or recent calls, we will have a button to make a video call through the app Duo, after the agreement reached by Samsung and Google.

The cameras are going to give a lot to talk about

In another of the things that the three models of the new Galaxy S20 differ the most is in the photographic section.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 mounts 3 rear sensors, with a 3x optical zoom and a 30x Super Resolution Zoom:

  1. Wide angle: 12 megapixels and 1.8 focal aperture.
  2. Ultra-wide angle sensor: 12 megapixels and f/2.2.
  3. Telephoto: 64 megapixels and 2.0 focal aperture.

For its part, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ mounts 4 sensors, maintaining the 3x optical zoom and the 30x Super Resolution Zoom:

  1. Wide angle: 12 Megapixels and 1.8 focal aperture.
  2. Ultra-wide angle sensor: 12 megapixels and f/2.2.
  3. Telephoto: 64 megapixels and 2.0 focal aperture.
  4. Depth Sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with 4 sensors, with a 10x optical zoom and a 100x Super Resolution Zoom.

  1. Wide angle: 12 Megapixels and 2.2 focal aperture.
  2. Ultra-wide angle sensor: 108 megapixels and f/1.8.
  3. Telephoto: 48 megapixels and 3.5 focal aperture.
  4. Depth Sensor.

The little that we have been able to test the cameras of the new S20 has shown us that we are going to be facing one of the devices with the best results for the photographs of this year 2020. In addition, all the models are capable of recording video with 8K resolution, although currently it is still a technology that very few users will be able to take advantage of.

We were able to test the 100x zoom of the S20 Ultra and we have to tell you that it surprised us in a very positive way, although we will have to wait to try it more thoroughly.

The front camera is 10 megapixels and 2.2 focal aperture in the Galaxy S20 and S20+, while in the Ultra version it goes up to 40 megapixels with f/2.2.

Samsung increases the capacity of its batteries

If there was something in which the Samsung Galaxy S10 did not quite work well, it was in the autonomy section. It seems that Samsung took good note of this by adding more capacity to the batteries of the new S20.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a 4,000 mAh battery, the S20+ has 4,500 mAh, while the S20 Ultra has the most battery with 5,000 mAh They all support fast charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

As for the rest of the characteristics, we will have to wait to have the terminals in our hands for a longer time and thus be able to carry out the pertinent tests.

The conclusion after this first contact with all the Samsung Galaxy S20 models is that we are dealing with terminals that are going to place themselves in the top positions of the ranking of best devices of the year, without any doubt, although we will have to wait to try them in our reviews to give a verdict in great detail.
