9 out of 10 people spied on by the NSA were ordinary citizens. The Washington Post has studied the documents leaked by Edward Snowden and reveals that only 11% were targets of the US agency.

Half of the documents contain personal data such as names, Internet addresses and more details corresponding to residents of the United States. They further note that despite the NSA trying to protect users' privacy, 900 email addresses were visible

The messages spied on by the NSA contain secret information about a foreign nuclear program, the "double game" of a notable ally, a military misfortune that befell an enemy power, and the identity of crackers.

On the other hand, there are messages that should be useless for NSA analysts. Among them are stories of love and heartbreak, mental crises, political and religious conversations, financial problems or other aspects of the daily life of citizens.

Also according to the American newspaper some documents include photos, even of minors or women posing in their underwear.

Apparently the NSA has not discriminated on many occasions the information and finally it is going to get a bigger scandal than it is. In addition, if the law is followed, the NSA could only mark a foreign national as a “target” if there is judicial authorization with a cause that justifies the espionage.
