In 2013 the current version of Google Maps for desktop browsers began to be shown. Since then it has become the one used by default, since it is visually richer, offers new features and is very intuitive. But the classic version of Google Maps was still available for users who preferred it or needed it for some reason. But that's going to change soon, because Google will be shutting down classic Google Maps in no time.
That is, those who used classic Google Maps will be migrated to the current version. But it could happen that some people were turning to the old platform because they had a browser that was not current, an operating system that has been left behind or a computer that was not capable of moving the new Google Maps in an acceptable way. Google Maps Lite Mode has been created for these users, a simplified version of the service
So, after the closure of classic Google Maps, almost all users will be migrated to the new version. In any case, it is the one that was shown by default since February 2014, so those affected will not be so many. Those who don't meet the requirements will find Google Maps Lite, which works faster, is simpler, and leaves out some advanced features. In any case, we will not lose any personal data, such as the places we have marked as favorites or our own maps.
Therefore, even if you close the classic version of Google Maps, we still have alternatives. The search engine brand is very restless with its maps, since a short time ago we have seen that it was retouching the interface of Google Maps. It's good that such useful services never stop updating, because we all benefit from their improvements.
