Interestingly, Automotive Grade Linux has been developed from Tizen, the operating system developed by Samsung, Intel, and the Linux Foundation. The idea of this system for the car is the same as that of Google with Android Auto and Apple with CarPlay.
The Linux system for the car, in its initial phase, offers basics such as a home screen, access to Google Maps, and the ability to pair devices via Bluetooth It also hopes to add more interesting features as its competition will. The apps for the Linux system will be developed in the languages JavaScript and HTML5, which are precisely widespread because of their great potential.
The thing is, Automotive Grade Linux or AGL is free and therefore its code is available to everyone, including car manufacturers who can incorporate it without paying. And it is that some like Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota have shown their interest.
It also has collaboration for its development with Advanced Telematic Systems, Fujitsu, Harman, Intel, LG, NEC, Panasonic and Samsung.
