It seems that the most popular instant messaging app is accelerating its development, and wants to add new features for its more than 1,000 million users. Now WhatsApp already shows the option of video calls, a clear proof that the functionality is coming, and that it could be launched in the coming weeks if all goes well.
The truth is that we have already explained to you that WhatsApp video calls were in development, and now it is clear that they cannot take long. And it is that they appear in the WhatsApp test version that the company offers to those interested. Of course, although they are shown in the menu, they are not yet activated.
If we click the icon to make a call in WhatsApp 2.16.80 we find a menu to choose between making a voice call and a video call, although this last option is so new that it does not appear or be translated:

WhatsApp is working on other interesting improvements
So WhatsApp already shows the option of video calls, but the truth is that it is not the only novelty that it is preparing. It is also working on invitations through links, plans to launch a voicemail for calls, and also an option to quote messages in groups. Not to mention that it recently encrypted all the communications that are made within the app to prevent them from spying on us.
Of course, WhatsApp does not stop improving. The Windows and Mac version of WhatsApp recently arrived, and now it seems that video calls are imminent. Of course, it's clear that Facebook's purchase of WhatsApp has fueled the development of new features.
What do you think of this topic? Are you interested in making video calls on WhatsApp, or don't you find it too necessary a function?
