Google Maps is a tool used by millions of users on a daily basis to find out which route is faster or how to get to a place. Google Maps has published reports to find out how the mobility of people in different countries has changed due to the quarantine.

The coronavirus is the most feared virus of the moment, leaving discouraging figures around the world. Since its expansion, many countries, such as Spain, have decreed their state of alarm whereby citizens must remain confined in their homes.

The quarantine that is already in place in many countries has reduced mobility drastically in recent weeks. Google has wanted to compile the mobility that has been carried out in 2 or 3 days thanks to Google Maps and has published a report for each country showing different data.

This is a report that can be found in English where first of all the data is detailed as a percentage of how mobility has decreased and increased in parks, shops, pharmacies, public transport, homes and workplaces.

At the beginning of the report we are shown multiple general data that corresponds to the average taken from the data collected among all the autonomous communities of Spain.

The report is quite extensive because 6 graphs are shown for each of the 17 autonomous communities, in addition to the two cities regions such as Ceuta and Melilla. Data is compared to "normal" activity collected over a 5-week period between January and February.

Google clarifies that all data has been collected completely anonymously through Google Maps and that they comply with its privacy terms. Without a doubt, it is a way of knowing in which countries or regions of a country is where the quarantine is being fulfilled the most.

What do you think of the reports? Do you think the quarantine will last long?
